In West Estonian Archipelago, more
precisely in Pitkänä, the Southernmost top of the Kihnu Island, a Naumann's Thrush (Turdus naumanni) has caused great excitement for
several days already. This Siberian species has never been spotted in
Estonia before. The first spotting took place as early as November
15, but the species was more or less satisfactorily identified by
Aivo Klein and Mati Kose only by November 17. This identification was
positively confirmed by The Estonian Rarities Committee in November
18.
So far no good photographs have been
taken of the bird, but one hazy snapshot is loaded up to the
Estbirding Gallery.
This sighting has grabbed attention
elsewhere in Europe. Up to our knowledge not only Finnish twitchers,
but also bird-lovers from UK and France are planning some outing.
The Naumann's Thrush is the 385th bird
species of Estonia.

The photo shows Dusky Thrush, Turdus (naumanni) eunomus but as far as I heard about the bird & can see in Estbirding Gallery it the more red-spotted/ patternd Turdus (naumanni)naumanni. For comparison pls. have a look on http://www.bird-lens.com/photos-2/happy-island-birds-during-fall-migration/dusky-thrush-3/ and in comparison http://www.bird-lens.com/photos-2/happy-island-birds-during-fall-migration/dusky-thrush/ or see photo in the blog http://www.bird-lens.com/2012/11/21/naumann%c2%b4s-thrush-in-estonia/ in bird-lens.com
