Garden birdwatch has become the most popular birdwatching event in Estonia

It was the fifth year for Estonia to participate in the Garden Birdwatch event and this year over 3,600 nature lovers have shared their results with local Birdlife partner Estonian Ornithological Society. Don’t forget that only an estimated 1 340 415 people live in Estonia! The total number of counted birds exceeded 85 000 birds and over 60 species were seen in 2500 gardens. The most numerous species has been Great Tit with nearly 1/4 of the total counts! Other top species include Greenfinch and Tree Sparrow. The most interesting sightnings in gardens were Pygmy Owl, Great Grey Shrike, Grey-headed Woodpecker and even Kingfisher.
